| WOLLASTON, STOURBRIDGE
The village of Wollaston is situated just a short distance from
the historic shopping town of Stourbridge, which is famous for
its glass industry and the Stourbridge Lion locomotive, the first
to run commercially in the USA in 1829.
Forget-Me-Not House B & B is situated literally a short walk
from all of the local amenities. The village boasts seven pubs
with more nearby, several of which serve meals. There are also
two Asian restaurants, an Asian take-away, two Chinese take-away
and a fish and chip shop all in the main shopping area! There is
a Post Office, a Spar grocery shop with cash point inside, two
butchers, a bakers, three hair dressers, a doctor’s surgery,
a chemist, a dry cleaner, a newsagents, to name a few which are
easily within walking distance for your convenience.
Wollaston is situated on the edge of the Black Country and is
ideally situated for easy access to both the countryside and also
the many nearby towns and cities, being just a short drive from
both the M5 and M6 motorways. The famous Merry Hill shopping centre
is just a short distance away. Birmingham International Airport,
National Exhibition Centre and the National Indoor Arena are easily
reached by car or train.
There is Stourbridge Canal nearby which represents an interesting
stretch for cruising and walking, as well as fishing. Wollaston
is ideally situated for the keen fisherman, as there are many other
fishing venues close by. Other places of interest include the Black
Country Living Museum, Stourbridge Crystal Glass Centre, the Ruskin
Glass Centre, Dudley Zoo and Castle, Kinver Edge, Clent hills,
Himley Hall and grounds, and many other scenic villages and towns
within easy reach.
